Community Impact

Community Rooms

We offer use of our community rooms to support local programs and organizations as part of our core value of giving back to the community. These rooms are an excellent option for groups looking to host conferences, training sessions, seminars, business luncheons, or other large group meetings.

Our community rooms are available in East Lansing, downtown Lansing, Auburn Hills, and Detroit, and have a range of seating options and amenities available. Take a virtual tour of our community room spaces and submit a request if you’re interested in using this space.

Desk Drawer Foundation

In April 2019, MSUFCU established a charitable foundation to deepen our commitment to the communities where our members live and work. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded nearly $3 million in meaningful grants to more than 50 nonprofit organizations across Michigan, an achievement made possible through the generous support of MSUFCU employees, members, and community partners.

Giving back to the community has been part of MSUFCU’s mission since 1937, when the Credit Union was founded from a desk drawer on Michigan State University’s (MSU) campus. Today, the MSUFCU Desk Drawer Foundation continues that legacy by focusing on five philanthropic pillars:

• The Arts
• Entrepreneurship
• Financial Education
• Stable Housing
• Youth Empowerment

Lansing SAVE

Saving Money from the Start

In partnership with the City of Lansing and the Lansing School District, MSUFCU is proud to support Lansing Student Accounts Valuing Education (SAVE). Lansing SAVE brings specialty savings accounts for students in the Lansing School District who are enrolled in school from K through 11th grade. These accounts are funded through contributions from the City of Lansing, the Lansing School District, individual contributions, and community giving programs such as Kroger’s Community Rewards. Students with a Lansing SAVE account can use the funds to put toward higher education costs such as college or university tuition, vocational or trade school, books, or other qualified education expenses.

Lansing SAVE Financial Education

Another important feature of Lansing SAVE is the in-classroom financial education led by MSUFCU’s Miss Cece and our team of financial educators. Each month from December through May, MSUFCU Financial Educators go to the schools for a 30-minute lesson with topics ranging from “what is money” to the introduction of credit.

MSUFCU invests in Lansing SAVE because we believe in the future of our Lansing youth. We recognize the importance of students having access to financial resources and education and empowers them to achieve their dreams.

I'm a senior now, and I have to think about budgeting and and stuff. I'm glad Lansing SAVE program was offered to us, it gave me some resources that will be helpful when I start at community college.
