Michigan State University Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) was founded in 1937 by a small group of (at the time) Michigan State College faculty and staff, operating out of a single desk drawer on campus. Over the years, it’s grown to a membership of over 379,000 members and more than 30 branches spanning Michigan, and now into Illinois! MSUFCU is a full-service credit union.
As we’ve grown, we’ve also focused on developing our community impact and financial education efforts. Our Financial education department hosts the Wallet Watch podcast, which you can listen to on your favorite streaming service. MSUFCU also has a dedicated focus in the financial technology (FinTech) space. We’re always keeping an eye out for engaging and innovative products and services!
While Oakland University Credit Union (OU Credit Union) might be relatively new in name (became an official tradename in 2013), the Credit Union's relationship with Oakland University began in 1973 as the Oakland Branch of MSUFCU. The goal has always been to serve OU faculty and staff, and the surrounding communities in Michigan’s Oakland County. This allowed the Credit Uunion to provide the same superior service, with a name that reflects a little closer to home as we continued to grow our membership in Southeast Michigan.
With a focus on community, you'll find us on campus (inside the Oakland Center), courtside at the Oakland O'Rena, and out supporting our local communities.
The MSUFCU Desk Drawer Foundation (DDF) was established in 2019 to further the Credit Union's commitment to serving tour core value of 'Giving Back to the Community.' Foundation grants are provided to organizations that support one of our five philanthropic pillars:
• The Arts
• Entrepreneurship
• Financial Education
• Stable Housing
• Youth Empowerment
